Fiat’s Low Emissions

Fiat has the lowest CO2 emissions rating figures for a volume manufacturer, at 133.7g/km, according to the JATO (the automotive business intelligence experts). The Italian firm is going to be offering green test drive sessions for customers are certain dealerships these will analyse the driving style and provide tips on how to improve mileage and increase economy.

F1 Wins, Not Points, To Decide Title

The Formula One world title will not be decided on points, but in fact be taken by the driver who wins the most races this season. Interestingly, were the rules in play last season, this would have meant that Lewis Hamilton would have been denied the title.

No Proof, No Jail (Even For Over 100mph!)

A driver who was allegedly doing 173mph managed to evade a jail term after prosecutors failed to prove that he was doing such a speed. The defendant was speeding on the A515, and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving for driving a Lotus Elise at 105mph in a 50mph zone.

An Electric Car From Renault

The future, according to Renault, is the electric car. The French firm are pinning their hopes on an electric vehicle along with a host of new models that will drag them out of the economic quagmire by 2011. Senior official Stephen Norman has made clear that whilst other projects may be on hold, the electric car is going ahead as an absolute priority for the company.

The Sun’s Scrap ‘Em Now Campaign

Sun Motors has launched a new campaign that to scrap old bangers on British roads. Other projects have already been rolled out across Europe in order to up car sales and save industry jobs. Governments have offered citizens the chance to purchase a new car and received up to 2,500 Euros in return for their older motor.

Do You Care About Fuel Savings?

After a while, we get into a certain mindset with our cars. This mindset is we don’t mind paying a certain amount based on the type of driving style that we have – and indeed what kind of car we drive. Let me remind you at this point that Top Gear showed very clearly that a Toyota Prius pushed to the limit on a track actually proved to be far less economical that a BMW M3. The reason? The M3 was relatively relaxed flying round the track on the tail of the puny Toyota.

A New Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover is set to be the next winner in the governments continuing efforts to hand out taxpayer money though this time it is in the form of a grant. Land Rover has stated that the money will go toward producing a new car that will be the most efficient, smallest and lightest in the history of the brand.
