Last month, I blogged about Toyota opening for business in Korea. A little over a month later, for all Toyota’s woes elsewhere, sales are going well. In October, Toyota beat a (admittedly conservative) target to sell 500 Prius, Camry sedans and RAV4 SUVs each month in Korea, despite sales not starting until Oct. 20. As of today, Toyota said it had received orders for 6,600 vehicles. That means, subject to most of those orders being completed, the Japanese automaker has achieved its annual sales plan for Korea in less than six weeks. (The figures exclude Lexus, Toyota’s luxury marque, which has been on sale in Korea for several years).

Shown here previously (and first I believe) the new Sloting Plus Reynard. This car is a planned release for the first quarter of 2010. Final price not yet set. The plastic injection molded car will be made in China with the Sloting Plus parts (which are made in Spain).

The Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team from Chrysler Group LLC arrived at Laguna Seca raceway today on a mission to recapture the production car lap record at the world-renowned road course in Monterey, Calif’ Mission accomplished’ Chris Winkler, an SRT vehicle dynamics engineer piloted a black and red 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR (American Club Racer) to a lap record of 1:33′915 as recorded by Motech in-vehicle data recorder (1:33′944 – as unofficially recorded by trackside clock) around the 2′238-mile, 11-turn course, shattering the previous lap record by more than 1′1 seconds’
According to Edmunds Inside Line , nearly two thirds of new Camaro’s are being purchased with a V8 engine’ More than 47,000 Camaros have been sold since April 2009 and two thirds of that figure, 31,333 to be exact, are V8 SS models’ Despite the economy and price of gas, base V6 models have been neglected by customers’ Who would want a V6 Camaro anyway?
Swedish sports car maker Koenigsegg Group AB has come to its senses. The company decided to pull out of its earlier agreement to buy Saab from General Motors. Barring some new edict from GMs board, the auto maker will likely just wind the brand down. Management doesnt want to keep it, say two GM executives familiar with the companys planning. So unless the board overturns their wishes, Saab will join Pontiac and Saturn on their way to the auto industrys Boot Hill.
